Designer Pulls: WFH edition
Updated: March 2024
Thankfully we are far past the lockdown phase of life (good riddance!). Please enjoy this post as though it may have some dated references to COVID times, it still contains relevant design-related tips for DIYing a home office or child’s study space.
Now back to the original post from January 2021
Did you see us on Good Morning Texas for this segment? In case you didn’t, no worries, here it is for you to watch at your leisure.
Also a quickie checklist of the items we discussed on air with Alanna Sarabia of GMT.

Midcentury modern is so hot right now, so we’ve brought you a great WFH look to get you started. Add a colorful rug, fun desk accessories and you’re good to go!
Affordably Eclectic
We love a fun eclectic mix of pieces. This could take a nautical turn, or add some softer boho touches, or a little more mod with a funky geometric rug beneath…the sky’s the limit with this lovely staple set.
AFFORDABLY GLAM
We love the soft greyed lavender of this plush velvety desk chair, the structured campaign desk with brass detail and a pair (yes, for the price of one) crystal and marble based lamps to give you that rich, Hollywood regency vibe. We see black and white fashion photographs or framed vintage magazine covers in a chic grouping on an adjacent wall.
SLEEK MODERN OFFICE
Nothing says clean like a bright white desk, clean lines and a comfy velvet chair in a sophisticated jewel tone. Now we’re getting a little higher in price here (> $500 for all), but the look is classic modern and timeless. Have some fun with a small shag rug just under your feet layered over a rustic jewel-box colored flat-weave wool rug in exotic Eastern-inspired patterns like a paisley or Moroccan geo.
kiddos look for $500 or less
We’re suggesting to have two chairs for this look for kids who have a sibling, are homeschoolers or have frequent helpers. One for the child and one for the parent or tutor to sit beside them. Again, please consider dimensions and age of your child prior to purchasing. We suggest these pulls for middle school and above. Would look smashing over a bright striped indoor/outdoor (for durability) low pile area rug.
our favorite kiddo look for $500
Who doesn’t love a cheeky llama lamp?! It just makes you want to smile and sit at this super functional desk with a great cerused (washed grey) finish. Love the punch of happy yellow in the pair of desk chairs and there’s ample overhead storage to keep clutter off the floor. Try some colorful woven basket totes on the overhead shelves to help store little items. Don’t love llamas? We’ve got some other adorable finds too below.
LUXE BOHO OFFICE DESIGN PACKAGE
Ok so we put the pedal to the metal with this luxury all-inclusive design package. Down to the rug, desktop blotter, accessories and other lifestyle perks all just for you. This is how we love to work with our Clients - produce digital mood boards and then pull it all together for them….100% custom to fit their space. Again, please remember to measure your room or office space, confirm your door openings and layout of the pieces…we want it to all fit your space. This is setup for a standard 10x12 bedroom FYI.
pet love
Don’t forget about your furry friends!!! We all love our pets. They’re part of the family. Bring pet beds, toys and chews into your home office space too. This will help to keep them nearby but also to occupy their time so not to distract you while you WFH. <wink>
Please check out our previous blog post which goes into much more detail about how best to work from home, harvesting natural light the right way, task lighting, how to reduce your headaches and other insightful tipes to help you make your day-to-day work life even better.
